Avatar

Today I went to see Avatar with my brother. It was very dissapointing. For something that was supposed to be the most expensive film ever made, it wasn't that great. Visually stunning, story not so stunning. I felt that it was just a more high tech Pocohontas. So pretty much, Pocahontas meets Jurassic Park. All the creatures looked cool and realistic, but the story was pretty much the typical thing that happened to Native Americans when the Europeans came to the "New World." The Navi, the blue people, have a very expensive metal that the humans want. The humans create avatars to communicate with the Navi. One Navi interacts with an avatar belonging to Jay Sully. She ends up falling in love with him and he falls in love with her. Of course before this, she taught him everything about his culture. The humans then destroy the Navi's living area and the girl Navi yells at Jay, talking about how he betrayed her and so on. Then Jay feels guilty and tries to make it up to her by betraying his kind, the humans. In the end, he becomes part of the Navi and the humans go back to Earth. Avatar really had no point and was quite boring. It felt more like a chance for someone to show off their computer skills, than a story.
